這屆世足賽開幕戰，判給巴西隊關鍵罰球的日籍裁判西村雄一，可能看得到他在冠軍戰執法。

候選名單有15位裁判，除了西村之外，還有上屆冠軍戰主審Howard Webb、執法9場寫下世足賽紀錄的Ravshan Irmatov等人。

闖進四強的阿根廷、荷蘭、德國裁判，都不會再於這屆比賽執法，但巴西裁判Sandro Ricci還在決賽候選名單裡。

另一名具有爭議的候選裁判，是西班牙籍的Carlos Velasco Carballo，他是八強賽巴西vs.哥倫比亞之戰的主審，那場比賽兩邊動作十分粗暴，但他執法寬鬆，導致巴西頭號大將Neymar被Juan Zuniga踹傷。
