新竹市前年發生的街頭喋血造成1死1傷案，動手的周姓男子，因意圖將少女載到汽車旅館性侵，遭少女的朋友圍毆，混亂中持刀亂刺而造成死傷; 周男犯案後，意圖畏罪自殺，跳海自盡，但遭救起。台灣高等法院審理後，認為周當時是出於正當防衛，但防衛過當而殺人，因此僅依傷害致死罪，處他3年8月徒刑。
