英國仍在對已關門大吉的《世界新聞報》(News of the World)電話竊聽案進行聆訊，不過，曾在該報擔任採訪皇室新聞的編輯古德曼(Clive Goodman)竟聲稱，他得到的皇室人員電話，有部分是來自已故的黛安娜王妃(Princess Diana)。

根據英國《每日郵報》(Daily Mail)報導，古德曼在接受審訊時表示，黛安娜王妃在與查爾斯王儲(Prince Charles)的婚姻陷入危機、兩人分居當時，她為了與皇室相抗衡，就將一本皇室人員通訊電話簿寄到報社。

古德曼聲稱，因為當時黛安娜王妃在皇室的處境屬困難時期，並稱覺得快要被查爾斯身邊的人吞沒，因此，想要藉由拉攏媒體、爭取盟友來得到外界的聲援，並讓查爾斯王儲知道她並非孤軍奮戰。

報導指出，古德曼還強調，黛安娜王妃曾致電給他，詢問是否收到皇室通訊錄。而對於控方指控他是透過賄賂公職人員，才會取得皇室成員的聯絡電話號碼一事，古德曼則否認。
