請問小筆電的作業系統問題? (Windows 7 starter.....)

朋友有一台 Acer Aspire One 的小筆電，最近很多應用程式都無法開啟，就連防毒軟體(Microsoft Security Essential)也都打不開。我跟他說可能是中毒了，叫他直接重灌作業系統會比較快；但是問題來了，問遍周遭的友人，沒有人有 Windows 7 starter 的光碟片。

所以想請問專家:
1. 若在小筆電安裝 Windows 7 Home Premium 的作業系統可行嗎? 這非 starter 版本的 Windows 7 作業系統若安裝在小筆電會不會跑不動呢?

2. 安裝 Windows xp 是否也可以?

小筆電的規格如下:
Acer Aspire One happy
CPU: Intel Atom N550(1.5GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
MEMORY: 1GB DDR3
STORAGE: 250GB HDD
