《末日寂境》（Z for Zachariah）

故事描述人類引發一場核子大戰，世界各地都受到了核污染，人類幾乎都死光了，

但是尚有一個山谷未受到污染，小女孩安獨立在此生活了一年，

有一天，來了一名訪客，然後...（故事自己去翻書看吧）

故事很引人入勝，會忍不住一直翻下去，想知道劇情到底如何發展，

採用主角安第一人稱的日記方式敘述故事，

作者思緒清晰、邏輯暢通，讓故事讀起來頗有真實感。

題外話1

至於書名則是來至於故事中，安讀過的一本《聖經字母書》（68頁），

A來自亞當 (Adam)

B來自便雅憫（Benjamin）＊一般都翻譯成班傑明，不知譯者是否有其他考量？

C來自基督徒（Christian）

Z來自撒迦利亞（Zachariah）

亞當是第一個男人，那撒迦利亞就是最後一個人，意旨女主角的狀況。

這種書名就很難照字面意思去翻譯。

題外話2

這本小說在作者過世時，尚未寫完，事由他的妻子與女兒根據他遺留的筆記補完。

書於1974年出版（天啊，我都還沒出生），而後獲得不少兒童書籍獎項，

在美國似乎是不少中學老師喜愛推薦的課外讀物之一。

但即使是現在來看，依然不會覺得有任何突兀的地方。

這部作品已經要改拍成電影，2011年11月就可以在網路上看到電影預告片了。

由飾演《悲慘世界》中成人珂賽特的亞曼達．賽佛瑞與《星際爭霸戰》的克里斯．潘恩共同主演。

作者羅伯．歐布黎恩在這本書中的寫作技巧很引人入勝，他會先告訴你一件事，再來說這件事的發生過程。

一開始先提到遠方有「煙柱」，但還不知道發生什麼事，

慢慢的在拼湊出小女孩安．伯頓在這生活一年了，家人為了去尋找其他生還者而有去無回，

本來安以為自己可能是地球上唯一生存的人類，

但那煙是炊事的煙，有人逐漸往安所居住的山谷過來了。

來到山谷的是一個穿著防護衣的男人，

安一開始想先觀察這個男人，才決定是否要現身，

但男人因為跳入核污染的池水中游泳而生病，安只好現身去照顧他。

這個男人叫做魯宓斯，安對他曾有著小女孩美妙的結婚幻想，

而在照顧他時才發現他曾為了一件防護衣而殺人，

事情的衝突是這樣的，魯宓斯跟同事因為躲在地下室研究防輻射的塑膠而逃過一劫，

但同事想穿著防護衣去看看妻兒是否還活著，魯宓斯怕他一去不回而有了爭執。

而後因為魯宓斯對安做出一些親密的動作，讓安起了防範之心，

安甚至躲回山中的山洞，把家裡讓給魯宓斯，

新光、鎮西堡主要的宗教信仰為基督教長老教會和天主教，鎮西堡基督長老教會，信徒們靠著信仰的力量一磚一瓦歷時數年辛苦建立而成。鎮西堡教會建築造型特別風景宜人，是當地最明顯的地標之一，遊客來到這裡，很難不注意到這座特別的建築物。

水蜜桃花園
為共同推廣部落觀光事業，並帶動部落文化生態產業、農特產品的多元推銷，次日前往鎮西堡檜木群舉辦生態活動之旅。為使這次活動的豐富與多樣性並結合新光、鎮西堡部落自然環境資源以外，地方的人文史地部份，地方產業更是這次推廣的要素，兩個部落居民共同參與設計這次全程活動的行程。讓都會區的遊客，更能認識新光與鎮西堡部落環境之美。

鎮西堡檜木群
鎮西堡神木群是全台灣最大的檜木原始林，面積達五十平方公里；進入神木區，一棵棵高大的紅檜、扁柏、肖楠沿途矗然而立，由於長期處在潮濕、無干擾的環境，高齡神木的樹表佈滿青苔和蕨類，續行至約海拔2375公尺處，有一毒龍潭其面積不大，因位在原始幽深的森林中，四周經常雲霧籠罩，充滿著神秘氣氛。鎮西堡神木群分為A-B區，大多人前往B區神木群較多、神木步道都優於A區安全既輕鬆，適合一般遊客前往觀賞。

基那吉山登山步道
基那吉山屬二等三角點，四周原始森林、動物植物多樣性此處風景宜人，至三角點可以觀賞大霸尖山一景。全程7公里步道指標完善，爬山健行是一處最佳旅遊地。標高2165公尺，爬此山請您攜帶水與乾糧。
